During the three months of the year (June, July, August), fishermen of Mumbai let their boats rot in Mud Island, Marina. Who wants to do that ? Who doesn't want to work and earn ? Especially when you earn the bread and butter for your family on daily basis!
There is a reason for these fishermen. The above mentioned three months are the heaviest rainy season months. There are huge tides in the sea. So as a precaution, these fishermen are barred by Govt bodies (BMC) to enter the sea, so as to avoid any mishap. Consequently during this period fishermen and their families have to survive on their savings earned during rest of the year. So they simply sit and wait for this period to get over so that they can resume their normal work.
Out of curiosity i asked few fishermen why don't they do some other work during this period. They said, "Saahab, Hume Aur Kuch Aata Hi Nahi Hai (we don't know any other work) ".
